Real-time color synchronization across devices

Summary: TribLight does not require user accounts, email addresses, or phone numbers. We use anonymous device identifiers and optional location data (approximate, ~1km precision) solely to enable real-time color synchronization and nearby room discovery. You can delete all your data at any time from within the app.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Anonymous Device Identifier
When you install and use TribLight, we generate a unique, anonymized device identifier from your device's hardware information. This identifier is:
- Hashed and pseudonymized before storage
- Used only to associate your device with rooms you create or join
- Stored locally on your device and on our servers
- Not linked to any personally identifiable information
1.2 Optional Location Data
When you create a room, you may optionally share your approximate location to help nearby users discover your room. We specifically:
- Round coordinates to ~2 decimal places (~1.1km / 0.7 mile precision)
- Never collect or store precise GPS coordinates
- Only request location permission when creating a room
- Allow you to deny location permission without limiting core functionality
1.3 Room and Usage Data
To provide the color synchronization service, we collect:
- Room names (filtered through content moderation)
- Color selections, modes, and animation settings within rooms
- Participant counts in active rooms
- Timestamps of room creation, activation, and closure
1.4 Advertising Data
We use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display interstitial advertisements:
- Ads are served by Google and may use Google's advertising identifiers
- We configure ads as non-personalized by default
- Ad impressions are limited to once every 10 minutes per user

2. How We Use Your Information
- Real-time synchronization: Device IDs enable WebSocket connections for live color updates across all room participants.
- Room management: Identify the room creator for administrative functions (activate, deactivate, delete).
- Nearby discovery: Approximate location allows "Close to Me" room filtering.
- Content safety: Room names are automatically screened for profanity, spam, and personal contact information.
- Ad delivery: Frequency-capped interstitial ads support app maintenance.
3. Data Storage and Security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS and WSS (WebSocket Secure) connections.
- Data is stored on servers hosted securely and protected by industry-standard access controls.
- We do not use Firebase or third-party backends for room data; our Django backend handles all storage.
- Room data is retained only while rooms are active or recently used.

We integrate the following third-party services:

These services operate under their own privacy policies. We do not sell or rent your data to any third party.
5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Account Deletion
You can permanently delete all data associated with your device at any time:
- Go to Profile → Delete Account in the app
- This removes your device ID, all rooms you created, and your participation history
- Deletion is immediate and irreversible
5.2 Location Opt-Out
Deny location permission when prompted, or disable it later in your device settings. Core features (creating and joining rooms) remain fully functional.
5.3 Ad Tracking
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
6. Content Moderation
To maintain a safe environment, all room names are automatically checked for:
- Profanity and hate speech (English and Turkish)
- Phone numbers and email addresses
- Spam, excessive special characters, and promotional content
- Malicious scripts or injection attempts
Blocked submissions receive a clear error message. No human reads your room names unless required for abuse investigation.
7. Children's Privacy
TribLight is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us to request deletion.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
